Miss Vickie's Ristoranti Series - Badiali: Vodka Sauce Pizza

A delectable entry in the Miss Vickie’s Ristoranti series, showcasing a selection of amazing Italian restaurants across Canada!

Continuing my review of the Miss Vickie’s Ristoranti series of chips, featuring some of Canada’s best Italian restaurants, I tried the Vodka Sauce Pizza flavour showcasing Toronto’s Pizzeria Badiali. Located in Toronto’s West end, Badiali is a popular pizza joint that serves up New York style slices. I had a great experience with the Cacio e Pepe chips, so I was really looking forward to trying out more from the series. I love pizza too, so doubly excited.

Chip Bag: Front & Back

A Striking Colour

As stated in the ⌞Cacio e Pepe review⌝, this series of chips have a unified packaging design. Differentiated by the overall bag colour and picture of the dish on the front. The striking fiery orange/red bag in addition to the picture off a giant cheese pizza really caught my eye.

The chips themselves are a very typical orangey chip. Honestly what I expected for a pizza flavoured chip.

Tastes like Pizza!

I’ve certainly had pizza flavoured chips before, but they often fell short on tasting like pizza; or just had similar seasoning that would be put on a pizza. I didn’t know what I expected when I open these bag of chips. To my surprise these chips actually tasted like cheese pizza! Specifically cold leftover cheese pizza flooded my mind, which to be honest I sometimes enjoy more than fresh. I didn’t really catch any of the vodka though, or it might’ve been very mild. I’ve never had vodka sauce pizza before, nor do I drink vodka all that much, so I might not have had a point of reference to spot it correctly.

A High Standard

These chips maintain that same level of quality of crunch known to the Miss Vickie’s brand. If the Cacio e Pepe chips are more creamy, the Vodka Sauce Pizza chips are the opposite. Giving a more dryer texture, what people tend to expect from a kettle chip.

The Chips

Final Thoughts:

Thanks to these chips, I have a restaurant to look forward to checking out when I ever get the chance to fly to Toronto.

Pizza flavoured chips are not a new a unique idea and these chips are really tasty and well done. While the Vodka Sauce Pizza chips and the Cacio e Pepe chips lean heavily on the cheese theme, they are both very different flavour experiences. These chips aren’t as heavy handed as the Cacio e Pepe in terms of cheesiness, but I respect the more subtle approach to it, it gives the chip a more delicate lightness when eating them.

Highly Recommended!
